Take a direct passenger ferry from Mae Haad Pier on Koh Tao to Koh Samui. Current scheduled trips usually take about 1.5–3.5 hours, often calling at Koh Phangan, and pier-to-pier fares commonly fall around THB 450–750. Select the boat by its Samui arrival pier and leave a large margin before any same-day flight.

The official Lomprayah 2026 timetable confirms current Gulf links and should be checked first. Date-specific booking results show present combinations and typical prices, but they are not a permanent schedule.
Best overall: a high-speed ferry arriving at the Samui pier closest to your next stop. Bangrak is generally best for the airport; Pralarn/Maenam serves the north coast; Nathon serves the west.
Cheapest: a basic pier-to-pier passenger ticket. Add the Samui taxi fare and compare the true total rather than choosing the lowest ferry price.
Fastest: current express and speedboat products can schedule around 90 minutes. Treat this as best-case operational time, not a safe basis for a close flight connection.
Mae Haad is Koh Tao’s main passenger harbour. It is within walking distance of Mae Haad village but requires a taxi or accommodation transfer from Sairee, Chalok Baan Kao and remote bays.
The harbour can be crowded when several boats depart. Find the correct operator counter, complete check-in and attach any supplied luggage tag. Arrive at the time printed on your voucher rather than assuming all companies use the same cutoff.
Bangrak Pier is close to Samui Airport and convenient for northeast Samui. Pralarn/Maenam Pier suits the north coast, including Maenam and parts of Bophut. Nathon Pier serves the west coast and is much farther by road from the airport.
Do not leave this decision until arrival. Ferry products labelled simply “Koh Samui” may end at different terminals. Confirm the pier, then reserve a taxi or hotel transfer using that exact location.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand guide places Koh Tao roughly 64 km from Samui, while booking platforms can calculate longer sailing distances depending on the pier and route. Some services call at Thong Sala on Koh Phangan without requiring a boat change.
Allow for a delayed departure, a stop at Koh Phangan, docking, luggage unloading and the road transfer. Even a scheduled Bangrak arrival should not be paired with a flight that closes check-in shortly afterwards.
For an international, expensive or last flight of the day, staying overnight on Samui is the robust plan. Separate ferry and airline tickets do not normally provide a protected connection or compensation for a missed flight.
Standard backpacks and suitcases are common, but operator allowances and excess charges vary. Keep valuables, passport, electronics and medication in a small bag. Label larger luggage placed in a shared storage area.
The open-water leg can be rough. Enclosed catamarans offer indoor seating, while smaller speedboats can have less room and stronger motion. Take your usual seasickness medication before the vessel leaves and protect electronics from spray.
Wind and swell may delay, change or cancel a service. This is especially relevant during unsettled Gulf weather, but disruptions are possible year-round. Recheck messages and operator notices the day before.
Advance booking is wise in July–August, at Christmas/New Year, during Thai holidays and around Full Moon travel dates. Confirm vessel type, Samui arrival pier, luggage terms, intermediate calls and transfer inclusion.

Most current daytime passenger itineraries take around 1.5–3.5 hours, depending on vessel, island calls and Samui pier.
Bangrak is generally closest. Pralarn/Maenam is farther west along the north coast, while Nathon is on the opposite side of the island.
Possibly, with a generous buffer and an early ferry. For a critical flight, travel to Samui the previous day.
Many services do. Check the itinerary; a through-ticket usually lets you stay aboard during the call.
Usually, but confirm dimensions, weight and fees. Smaller speedboats have less storage than larger passenger ferries.
