From roughly November to April, a direct speedboat or ferry from Saladan Pier to Rassada Pier can take about 1.5–4 hours and cost THB 900–1,800. In low season, or when seas are rough, choose the year-round shared van: it leaves Koh Lanta by the local vehicle ferry, travels via Krabi and reaches Phuket in roughly 5–6 hours for around THB 650–1,000.
| Option | Typical time | Typical price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seasonal speedboat | 1.5–2 hours | THB 1,100–1,800 | Fast arrival near Phuket Town |
| Seasonal standard ferry | 3–4 hours |
Typical price from
฿650–฿1,800
| THB 900–1,300 |
| More space and a steadier ride |
| Shared van + vehicle ferry | 5–6 hours | THB 650–1,000 | Year-round travel and hotel pickup |
| Private road transfer | 4.5–5.5 hours | THB 4,000–6,000 per vehicle | Families, airport and luggage |
The advertised journey ends at different parts of Phuket. Rassada Pier and Phuket Town are convenient for Old Town, but Patong, Kata, Karon and Phuket Airport require another transfer unless the ticket includes it.
Best in high season: a confirmed direct boat. It avoids the long road loop and arrives at Rassada Pier. Choose a standard ferry for luggage and comfort, or a speedboat when crossing time matters.
Best in low season and cheapest overall: shared van. The road route is not dependent on an open-sea passenger schedule and often includes pickup from Lanta hotels.
Fastest predictable door to door: private car. This is particularly useful for Phuket Airport, because a boat still requires a cross-island road transfer after arriving at Rassada.
Saladan Pier is Koh Lanta’s northern passenger-boat hub. Hotel pickups begin earlier the farther south you stay, so a Kantiang pickup can add well over an hour before the boat departs. Confirm whether the transfer is included or whether you must reach the pier independently.
Andaman Wave Master lists Koh Lanta–Phuket services via Phi Phi only from December to March, identifying Saladan and Rassada as endpoints and warning that operating periods can change. Check the operator timetable. Ao Nang Travel’s published service notice similarly showed Lanta–Phuket restarting in November for the 2025–26 season. Read the operator notice.
Some ferries stop or change at Tonsai Pier on Phi Phi; faster boats may run direct. Check the itinerary, not just “ferry,” and make sure the product is transport rather than an excursion.
The van collects from Koh Lanta hotels, crosses by local vehicle ferry to the mainland, and continues north through Krabi and Phang Nga before reaching Phuket over the Sarasin Bridge. It is a long journey but avoids open-sea dependence.
Current July 2026 listings show road products and combined transfers taking about five to six hours. Compare current Koh Lanta–Phuket listings, using prices and schedules only as date-specific guidance.
Clarify the Phuket drop. Phuket Town, Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Rassada Pier and the airport are not interchangeable. A beach hotel transfer can extend the journey while the driver serves several zones.
Southwest-monsoon conditions can make the Andaman Sea rough from roughly May to October. The Thai Meteorological Department may issue warnings for two-to-three-metre waves and keep small boats ashore. Check current TMD warnings.
Conventional ferries offer more luggage space than speedboats. In shared vans, oversized bags may need a paid seat. Keep documents, valuables, medication and one change of clothes in a small protected bag.
Book high-season boats several days ahead and earlier at Christmas or New Year. Reconfirm the Saladan pickup, vessel, Phi Phi stop and Rassada arrival. For road transfers, send your Lanta hotel and exact Phuket destination in writing.
Private vehicles should confirm whether all local ferry charges are included and whether the timing fits the vehicle-ferry operating day. Shared pickups need flexibility at both ends.
No operator should be assumed year-round. Many Saladan–Phuket passenger services run only in the main Andaman season and remain weather-dependent.
Use a shared van or private road transfer via the local Koh Lanta vehicle ferry and mainland roads.
No. Boats arrive at a pier, commonly Rassada. You need a separate or included road transfer to the airport.
It may be accepted, but space and handling are less comfortable than on a standard ferry. Confirm the allowance before booking.
