A shared van is the best option for most travellers, taking about 3–4 hours from Krabi Town or Ao Nang to Phuket Town or a booked hotel zone. The cheapest scheduled vans start around THB 300–500 from Krabi Bus Terminal. A private transfer is fastest at roughly 2.5–3 hours, while sea routes from Klong Jilad, Ao Nang or Railay should be treated as date- and weather-specific rather than a guaranteed everyday shortcut.

Phuket is large. A ticket to Phuket Town, Bus Terminal 1, Bus Terminal 2, Rassada Pier, Phuket Airport or a west-coast hotel can produce very different total journey times. Identify the final point before comparing the headline price.
Best overall: shared van. It runs across the year and can remove the transfer from Krabi or Ao Nang to the bus terminal. The trade-off is extra time for collections and Phuket hotel drop-offs.
Cheapest: terminal van or bus. Current listings show vehicles leaving Krabi Bus Terminal for Phuket Town from around THB 210–400. This is best when you can reach both terminals cheaply and are not rushing to the airport.
Fastest: private transfer. A direct car avoids shared stops and can take you straight to Phuket Airport or a specific beach. For three or four passengers, compare the whole-vehicle price with separate van tickets and taxis.
The year-round road route heads north through Phang Nga, then crosses the Sarasin Bridge onto Phuket. Current booking results list multiple vans from Krabi Bus Terminal to Phuket Town, typically around three hours before local transfers. Review current terminal-to-town listings.
Other products collect from Krabi Town hotels, Ao Nang or an operator office. Some use a short songthaew pickup before passengers join the main van; this is still sold as one itinerary even though a vehicle change occurs. Read the boarding instructions instead of assuming that “hotel pickup” means the same vehicle arrives at your hotel.
Phuket Town arrivals are useful for Old Town and onward local transport, but they are not close to every beach. Allow roughly another 30–60 minutes for Patong, Kata or Karon depending on traffic, and longer for northern beaches or the airport.
Some sea itineraries connect Klong Jilad Pier, Ao Nang or Railay with Rassada Pier in Phuket. Depending on the service, the boat may travel through Phi Phi and require a change at Tonsai Pier. Pier check-in and transfers make the door-to-door journey longer than the crossing alone.
Andaman Wave Master’s timetable identifies Klong Jilad and Rassada on Phuket–Krabi connections and warns that schedules or operating periods can change without notice. Check the current operator timetable. A booking platform also describes road buses as a regular three-hour option and notes that Krabi boats can leave from Klong Jilad or the Ao Nang area. Compare the current overall route.
The boat is most attractive when you are staying close to a departure pier and want to arrive near Phuket Town. It is usually a poor choice for an early airport connection or low-season day with rough seas.
The road route operates in all seasons, although heavy rain can slow the drive. Andaman boat services face a stronger constraint: Thai Meteorological Department warnings can report two-to-three-metre waves and direct small boats to stay ashore. Check TMD warnings, particularly during the southwest monsoon.
Shared vans have limited luggage space. Declare large suitcases, diving equipment or a stroller, and reserve a luggage seat if required. On boats, tag larger bags and keep valuables in a protected daypack.
Reserve ahead around weekends, Thai holidays and December–March. For ordinary weekdays, a few days’ notice is normally enough for road transport, but an airport-bound private car should be secured earlier. Reconfirm shared pickup the evening before and be ready at the beginning of the stated window.
Leave a generous flight buffer. Ao Nang collection rounds, roadworks, rain and Phuket traffic can all extend a shared transfer. For a boat-to-flight plan, add even more time or stay overnight in Phuket.
Yes. Scheduled vans and buses connect Krabi Bus Terminal with Phuket Town. Tourist vans also sell hotel pickups and selected Phuket hotel or airport drops.
Common points include Bus Terminal 1, Bus Terminal 2, Phuket Town offices, the airport and hotel zones. Only the exact destination printed on the ticket is included.
Do not assume so. Sea services, through-routes and change points vary by season and operating conditions; verify the exact date with the operator.
One normal bag per passenger is the safest assumption. Oversized or multiple bags may require an extra paid seat or a larger private vehicle.
